Spiro Cheriogotis won the Mobile mayoral runoff election held in September 2025. He narrowly defeated State Representative Barbara Drummond with 51.42% of the vote to her 48.58%. Cheriogotis, a former judge, will begin his four- year term as Mobile's 109th mayor on November 3, 2025. He succeeded Mayor Sandy Stimpson, who endorsed him. Cheriogotis emphasized public safety and public transit as top priorities for his administration.
