The Aditya-L1 mission is India's first dedicated space-based observatory to study the Sun. It is positioned at the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1), about 1.5 million km from Earth, where it can continuously observe the Sun without interruption. The mission aims to study the Sun's outer layers—the photosphere, chromosphere, and corona—as well as solar wind, solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and space weather phenomena. This helps improve understanding of solar dynamics, their effects on Earth's environment, and how solar activity influences space weather, which impacts satellite communications and power grids. The continuous observation from L1 enables better prediction and analysis of solar activity and its impact on Earth and space climate.
