Dave Chappelle did not go to prison. However, a man named Isaiah Lee attacked Dave Chappelle on stage in May 2022 during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl. Isaiah Lee was arrested and later sentenced to 270 days (about 9 months) in jail after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges related to the attack. Lee claimed that he was triggered by Chappelle's jokes about the transgender and homeless communities. Lee was also found to be in possession of a replica firearm with a knife blade at the time of the attack but Chappelle was unharmed in the incident.
There is another individual named David Chatwood, who is unrelated to Dave Chappelle but was jailed for 12 years for drug-related offenses in 2002.
Therefore, Dave Chappelle himself did not go to prison; the person linked to a prison sentence in connection to him is his attacker Isaiah Lee.
