Liver King, whose real name is Brian Johnson, went to jail because he was arrested in Austin, Texas, on suspicion of making terroristic threats. He posted multiple videos on Instagram where he threatened and challenged podcaster Joe Rogan to a fight, despite having no prior interaction with him. His threatening online behavior, combined with his travel to Austin while continuing to make threatening statements, led police to obtain an arrest warrant and detain him at a hotel. The charge against him was a misdemeanor terroristic threat. After his arrest, Johnson was released on bond with conditions including wearing an ankle monitor, staying at least 200 yards away from Joe Rogan and his family, no contact with them, no possession of firearms, and undergoing a mental health evaluation within one week of release. Despite the arrest and release conditions, he continued to hint at wanting to challenge Rogan to a fight in further videos after his release.
