Cats throw up frequently for several common reasons including eating too quickly or too much, hairballs from grooming, gastric irritation, and sometimes eating things they shouldn't like grass or non-food items. Kittens may vomit if they exercise too much right after eating. Hairballs are a very typical cause, particularly in cats that groom a lot or shed, as undigested hair accumulates in their stomachs. Vomiting can also indicate more serious health issues such as kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, infections, or cancer. Vomiting in cats is essentially their stomach's way of forcefully expelling something irritating or harmful inside and should be monitored closely, especially if it's frequent or severe, as it may warrant veterinary care.
