why do flies land on people

Flies land on people because they are attracted to several factors including the carbon dioxide humans exhale, body heat, sweat, salt, oils, dead skin, and other chemicals on the skin. They seek nutrients from sweat, proteins, carbohydrates, and salts on the skin surface. Flies also like less hairy skin because it allows them to vomit and liquefy food for easier consumption. Additionally, some body odors, skincare products, and even genetics and diet can influence how attractive a person is to flies. They essentially see the human body as a warm place to feed and lay eggs because it resembles some of their favorite food sources like decaying organic matter.
