The twitching of the right eye is usually caused by a condition called eyelid myokymia, which is an involuntary spasm of the eyelid muscles. Common reasons for this twitching include stress, fatigue or lack of sleep, caffeine or alcohol consumption, eye strain, and irritation of the eye. These mild twitches are generally harmless and tend to resolve on their own. However, if the twitching persists for more than a couple of weeks, involves other facial muscles, causes the eyelid to close completely, or is accompanied by redness, swelling, or other symptoms, it could be a sign of a more serious condition requiring medical attention. Some rare cases may be related to neurological disorders, but these typically include additional symptoms.
