SPM (South Park Mexican), whose real name is Carlos Coy, is in jail because he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child. In 2002, he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl and was sentenced to 45 years in prison with a fine. He is currently serving his sentence in Texas and was denied parole as recently as January 2025, with his next eligibility for parole set in 2028. His projected release date is April 8, 2047. Despite being incarcerated, he has continued to record music during his prison term. The case dates back to allegations made in 2001, and despite some controversies and claims of innocence by supporters, the conviction stands based on the evidence presented in court.
