Beckham was knighted to recognize his contributions to sport and charity. He received the title of Knight Bachelor from King Charles III at Windsor Castle in November 2025, following decades of playing at the highest levels and his extensive philanthropic work, including long-running UNICEF advocacy and malaria eradication efforts, as well as his role in promoting football globally. The honour is widely described as the culmination of a long-standing public and charitable service, after spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, and other clubs, and after leadership roles off the pitch, including charitable campaigns and efforts to boost London's Olympic bid and other community initiatives.
