Ethan Pritchard, a freshman linebacker for Florida State, was shot in the back of the head on August 31, 2025, outside an apartment complex in Havana, Florida, while dropping off family members. Authorities believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity, as Pritchard was targeted by suspects who apparently confused him for someone else. Four individuals were arrested in connection to the shooting, and Pritchard was not doing anything wrong at the time of the attack. He survived and was initially in critical condition but has made significant recovery progress and was released from the hospital in early October to continue rehabilitation.
