Cole Hocker was disqualified from the semifinal round of the men's 1500 meters at the 2025 World Athletics Championships due to "jostling," which is a violation of rule TR17.1.2[J] in the World Athletics rulebook. He made contact with Germany’s Robert Farken in the final 50 meters, pushing past him in a way that interfered with Farken's race, resulting in an unfair advantage for Hocker. This physical contact disrupted Farken's rhythm and caused him to fade back, while Hocker secured a qualifying position. The United States Track & Field team appealed the disqualification, but the appeal was denied. Hocker himself expressed disappointment but acknowledged he was trying to secure a spot in the final and was not trying to unfairly affect anyone else's race.
