The won is the official currency of South Korea. It is symbolized as ₩ and has the currency code KRW. The South Korean won is issued by the Bank of Korea and is subdivided into 100 jeon, although the jeon is no longer used in everyday transactions. There is also a North Korean won which is a separate currency used in North Korea.
