Charlie Kirk was killed by a bolt-action rifle, specifically an older model Mauser .30-caliber bolt-action hunting rifle. The rifle was found in a wooded area near the shooting site in Utah and is known for its accuracy though it fires slower than semi-automatic firearms. Investigators found a spent cartridge in the rifle's chamber and three additional rounds in the magazine. The shot was fired from a rooftop approximately 100 yards from where Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University.
