The Kodak camera was invented by George Eastman and was first placed on the market in 1888. It was a simple handheld box camera that came pre-loaded with a 100-exposure roll of film and was designed to be easy enough for amateur photographers to use. The camera was sold for $25, and after finishing the roll, the entire camera was sent back to the factory for film processing and printing. This invention made photography more accessible to the general public and launched the era of amateur photography.
