The beverage that was invented in a Dairy Queen is the ICEE. It was invented by Omar Knedlik, a Dairy Queen franchise owner in Coffeyville, Kansas, in 1958. His soda fountain broke, so he started freezing bottles of soda to serve to customers, which led to the creation of the frozen carbonated beverage known as ICEE. This invention later inspired similar products such as the Slurpee. Although ICEE originated from a Dairy Queen franchise owner, the chain itself did not serve the ICEE brand but had a similar product called Misty Slush.
