Cats can eat peaches, but only in small amounts and with important precautions. The flesh of the peach is not toxic to cats and may provide some hydration and fiber benefits, but the pit, leaves, and stems are toxic due to cyanide content and must be completely removed. Peaches are high in natural sugars and fiber, which cats do not metabolize well, so feeding too much can cause digestive upset, obesity, diabetes, or other health issues. Peach- flavored foods, canned peaches with syrup, and peach juice should be avoided due to added sugars or harmful ingredients. Only small, pit-free, skin-removed pieces of ripe peach flesh should be given occasionally as a treat, not regularly or as a staple food for cats.
