Cats can eat popcorn, but only plain, air-popped popcorn in very small amounts and as an occasional treat. Popcorn is not toxic to cats if it is free of butter, salt, seasonings, or other additives that can be harmful. However, popcorn has little nutritional value for cats since they are obligate carnivores and do not benefit significantly from carbohydrates. Also, unpopped kernels can pose a choking hazard or cause digestive problems.
