It is not possible to completely turn off the Liquid Glass feature in iOS 26, but you can effectively disable it by reducing the transparency, which makes everything on the screen opaque and removes the see-through "glass" effect. Here is how to turn off the Liquid Glass effect on your iPhone:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Select Display & Text Size.
- Enable the "Reduce Transparency" option.
This will remove the translucent look from many parts of the interface including the Home Screen, Lock Screen, notifications, and Control Centre, making the display much more opaque and easier to read, thus essentially turning off the Liquid Glass effect.
Additionally, for the Lock Screen, you can hold down on the Lock Screen and tap "Customize" to switch the clock style from "Glass" to "Solid," which helps reduce the Liquid Glass look on the clock area.
Furthermore, if you are a developer or managing an iOS app, apps can temporarily opt out of the Liquid Glass design by adding a setting in their app's info.plist file, but this option is only temporary and will be deprecated in iOS 27.
