Eyebrow mapping is a technique used to create symmetry between both brows when shaping them. It uses the golden ratio for facial proportions to help achieve symmetry and sculpt the most flattering shape. The process involves taking multiple measurements of the face to find the ideal brow shape. By mapping the brows, it brings symmetry to the face as well as balancing the eyes and defining the face. Brow mapping is specific to each individual, taking into consideration their unique features.
Brow mapping is important because it creates the brow shape and size that is correct for the face. Unlike a stencil where a pre-shaped stencil is used to draw the brow shape, eyebrow mapping is specific to the individual, taking into consideration their features. When done correctly, it can create the illusion of a lift around the eyes.
Brow mapping can be done using a brow mapping string. The process involves creating five basic lines:
- A straight line from the side of the nose to the inner corner of the eye to determine the starting point of the brow.
- A diagonal line from the side of the nose to the outer corner of the eye to determine the end point of the brow.
- A horizontal line from the bottom of the brow to the top to determine the arch of the brow.
- A line from the highest point of the arch to the starting point of the brow to determine the thickness of the brow.
- A line from the highest point of the arch to the end point of the brow to determine the length of the brow.
Brow mapping is a useful technique for achieving symmetrical and flattering brows. It is specific to each individual and takes into consideration their unique features.
