The map in Ghost of Yotei is about the same size as the map in Ghost of Tsushima. While the real-life area of Ezo (Hokkaido) is much larger than Tsushima Island, the game's playable area is designed to be roughly comparable in size to Tsushima's map, around 28 to 30 square kilometers. The developers focused on making the world feel larger and more dense, with a layout that provides the impression of huge expanses even though the map size is only slightly larger than Ghost of Tsushima's. The Yotei map is divided into six regions with a spread-out topology that enhances the sense of scale, compared to Tsushima's three larger regions. Overall, Ghost of Yotei's explorable area is slightly larger than Tsushima's base game alone but is roughly equal when including Tsushima's expansions.
