John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. He was fatally shot while riding in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. The shots were fired from the nearby Texas School Book Depository by Lee Harvey Oswald, a former U.S. Marine. Kennedy was struck by two bullets: one entered his upper back and exited through his throat, and the second, the fatal shot, struck the back of his head.
