To know if your MacBook is charging, you can do the following:
- Check the battery icon in the menu bar. When your MacBook is charging, you will see a lightning bolt through the battery icon. Clicking on the icon can show more detailed charging status.
- If your MacBook uses a MagSafe charger, look at the LED indicator on the charger. Amber or orange means charging, green means fully charged, and no light means not charging.
- Go to System Settings > Battery to see the battery icon with a lightning bolt and the current charging percentage.
- Use the System Report: Click Apple menu > About This Mac > System Report > Power to see detailed charging information.
- When plugged in, your MacBook screen may show a charging animation.
If you cannot see the battery icon in the menu bar, you can enable it via System Settings > Control Center > Battery > Toggle Show in Menu Bar. These methods work both when your MacBook is turned on and sometimes even when it is off (especially for MagSafe charging).
