The shooter who fatally shot Charlie Kirk fired from a building rooftop at a substantial distance. Authorities estimate the distance was about 130 to 150 meters (approximately 140 yards) from where Kirk was speaking to the crowd. The shooter was positioned on the roof of the Losee Center building on the Utah Valley University campus, which overlooked the outdoor area where Kirk was addressing about 3,000 people. This distance was well within the effective range of a high-powered rifle used by the shooter.
