Head lice cannot jump at all. They move by crawling quickly through hair but lack the anatomical structures needed for jumping. Unlike fleas, which have specialized legs to leap, lice have straight legs designed only for crawling. They can cover up to about 23.5 centimeters in one minute by crawling but do not jump or fly.
