Only about 3.2% to 4.7% of Americans retire with $1 million or more in their retirement accounts. When considering all assets, including real estate and other savings, the percentage of millionaires at retirement rises to around 18% of U.S. households. However, the majority of American retirees have far less saved; the median retirement savings for those aged 65 to 74 is around $200,000, and only a small fraction reach or exceed the $1 million milestone in retirement accounts alone. Factors such as income, education, homeownership, and age greatly influence retirement savings levels.
