There are approximately 43,000 Christian denominations worldwide as of 2012, according to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. This number has grown from about 500 in 1800 and is expected to reach around 55,000 by 2025. A new Christian denomination is estimated to be formed every 10.5 hours, or about 2.3 denominational splits per day.
