The total number of people who died in the 9/11 attacks was approximately 2,977 victims, excluding the 19 hijackers. This total includes 2,753 people at the World Trade Center in New York City, 184 at the Pentagon, and 40 on United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in Pennsylvania. Among the victims at the World Trade Center were 343 firefighters and many law enforcement officers. The death toll also included civilians of various ages, from a 2-year-old child to an 85-year-old man. A total of nearly 3,000 people died including those on the planes and in the attack sites combined.
