People who filed claims in the Facebook $725 million privacy settlement are receiving payments based on how long they had an active Facebook account between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022. The payouts range from a minimum of about $4.89 to a maximum of approximately $38.36. The payment is calculated by awarding one point per month of account activity during the class period, and then dividing the settlement fund (after administrative and legal fees) among claimants based on their points. The average payment is around $29 to $30. Payments have started going out and will continue over about 10 weeks, with claimants notified by email before payment issuance.
