The first tower hit on September 11, 2001, was the North Tower of the World Trade Center. It was struck by American Airlines Flight 11 at 8:46 a.m. The plane crashed almost directly midway into the North Tower's central core between floors 93 and 99. The South Tower was hit second at 9:03 a.m. by United Airlines Flight 175.
