The Triwizard Tournament is held every five years. It is a magical competition traditionally hosted in turn by each of the three major European wizarding schools: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang. The tournament originally ran for centuries but was discontinued due to the high fatality rate among participants. It was revived during Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts with additional safety measures, including an age limit of 17 and older for competitors. The purpose of the tournament is to foster magical cooperation between the schools, with three champions competing in three challenging magical tasks.
