To boil small potatoes:
- Scrub and rinse the small potatoes to clean them.
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water by about 1-2 inches.
- Add salt to the water (about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon depending on quantity and preference).
- Bring the water to a boil with the potatoes in it.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil or simmer.
- Boil the potatoes for about 8 to 15 minutes depending on the size. Smaller potatoes may take around 8-10 minutes; slightly larger small potatoes can take up to 15 minutes.
- Check doneness by piercing the largest potato with a fork; it should go in easily with little resistance.
- Drain the potatoes in a colander.
- Optionally, toss the potatoes with butter or olive oil, salt, pepper, and herbs like parsley or dill before serving.
This method gives tender, well-cooked small potatoes ready to eat or use in recipes.
