To unblock someone on your iPhone, you have several straightforward methods depending on whether the contact is saved or just a recent caller:
Method 1: Unblock via Contacts in the Phone app
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap the Contacts tab at the bottom.
- Find and select the contact you want to unblock.
- Scroll down and tap Unblock this Caller.
This will immediately allow the contact to call, message, and FaceTime you again
Method 2: Unblock via Settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap Phone.
- Tap Blocked Contacts.
- Find the contact or number you want to unblock.
- Swipe left on the number or tap Edit and then tap the red minus icon next to the contact.
- Tap Unblock.
The contact or number will now be unblocked
Method 3: Unblock from Recents (for recently blocked numbers)
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap Recents.
- Tap the info icon ("i") next to the blocked number.
- Scroll down and tap Unblock this Caller
These steps work on iOS 11 and later versions, including the latest iOS 16 and 17. Unblocking restores the ability for the contact to call, text, and FaceTime you as before
. In summary, the easiest way is to either unblock directly from the contact in the Phone app or manage your blocked list in Settings under Phone > Blocked Contacts.
