MAC is not cruelty-free, as they may test on animals themselves, through their suppliers, or through a third party. Although MAC claims that they do not test on animals, they may have paid for their finished products to be tested on animals in China to sell their products there. However, as of 2021, China stopped requiring animal testing on foreign products, so MAC no longer tests on animals. It should be noted that MAC is not entirely vegan, as some of their products contain animal-derived ingredients. MAC is not certified cruelty-free by any organizations.
