Leonhard Euler helped develop calculus by making significant contributions in the 18th century, particularly in expanding its notation, terminology, and applications. However, the original development of calculus is primarily credited to two mathematicians: Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who independently developed the fundamental principles of calculus in the late 17th century. Newton focused on the concept of fluxions, while Leibniz emphasized infinitesimal calculus and introduced much of the notation used today. Euler later built upon their work, introduced modern mathematical notation such as f(x)f(x)f(x) for functions, and made important advances in calculus and analysis.
