Lidex is a topical solution and ointment used to relieve the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. The active component in both the solution and ointment is the corticosteroid fluocinonide, which is the 21-acetate ester of fluocinolone acetonide. The solution contains fluocinonide 0.5 mg/mL in a solution of alcohol (35%), citric acid, diisopropyl adipate, and propylene glycol. The ointment contains fluocinonide 0.5 mg/g in a specially formulated ointment base consisting of glyceryl monostearate, white petrolatum, propylene carbonate, propylene glycol, and white wax.

Positive aspects of Lidex include its effectiveness in treating corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. However, it is important to note that topical corticosteroids are contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.

The ingredients in Lidex are fluocinonide, alcohol, citric acid, diisopropyl adipate, propylene glycol, glyceryl monostearate, white petrolatum, propylene carbonate, and white wax. Fluocinonide is the active component in both the solution and ointment, while the other ingredients are used to formulate the solution and ointment base.

It is important to note that Lidex is considered a hazardous material according to the criteria specified. However, no dangerous reaction is known under conditions of normal use. If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administrations (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online or by phone.
