A pedometer, also known as a step-counter, is a portable electronic or electromechanical device that counts each step a person takes by detecting the motion of the persons hands or hips. It is usually worn on the belt and can record how many steps the wearer has walked that day, and thus the distance covered in kilometers or miles.
