The Civil Disobedience Movement was launched from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. On March 12, 1930, Mahatma Gandhi started the famous Salt March from Sabarmati Ashram with 78 followers, marching about 240 miles to the coastal village of Dandi, where he broke the salt law on April 6, 1930, thus officially beginning the movement.
