High-rise jeans, also known as high-waisted jeans, are a type of denim that features a waistband that covers the navel and fits above the natural waist. They have the longest seam between the crotch and waistband, measuring between 9”-11” front seam and around 14” back seam. High-rise jeans were popular in the 70s, late 80s, and late 90s, and have made a huge comeback in the last 10 years. They are viewed as “retro” and are known for their flattering silhouette and comfort. High-rise jeans can be worn for a variety of occasions, from casual day-time looks to dressier evening outfits. They are also versatile and can be paired with a wide range of tops, from cropped jumpers to button downs to loose t-shirts to tanks. High-rise jeans are generally better suited for those of below average height because they make the legs look longer.
