Nature

Natural rights are those that are not dependent on the laws, customs, or beliefs of any particular culture or government, and are therefore universal and inalienable. These rights are considered to belong to human beings due to their nature and are meant to be universal, fundamental, and inalienable. The most famous natural right formulation comes from John Locke in his Second Treatise, where he introduced the state of nature. For Locke, the law of nature is that all individuals are equal in the sense that they are born with certain "inalienable" natural rights. That is, rights that are God-given and can never be taken or even given away. Among these fundamental natural rights, Locke said, are "life, liberty, and property". These rights are considered negative rights, meaning they are rights to be free from interference by others. In contrast, human rights also comprise positive rights, which are rights to something, such as the right to education or healthcare.
