The child sees many things on his way to the fair, including toys at shops, flowering mustard fields, dragonflies, butterflies, insects, worms, flowers, doves, a huge crowd of people, sweet shops selling burfi and gulab jamun, flower sellers with garlands of gulmohar, balloon sellers with rainbow-colored balloons, a snake charmer playing the flute, and a roundabout swing. He lags behind because he is fascinated and curious about all these sights. He stops frequently to admire the beauty of nature, such as collecting flowers and watching butterflies, or to buy toys and sweets. His curiosity and desire to explore everything around him cause him to fall behind his parents as they move toward the fair.
