Mosquitoes generally prefer to bite people with blood type O more than other blood types. Studies show that mosquitoes are more attracted to individuals with blood type O and tend to bite them more often compared to types A, B, or AB. People with blood type A seem to attract mosquitoes the least. The reason might be related to specific proteins or antigens present in blood type O that mosquitoes can sense. However, blood type is only one factor among many—others include body odor, carbon dioxide emission, heat, and skin bacteria—that influence mosquito attraction.
One study also noted that mosquitoes had a strong feeding preference and fitness advantage when feeding on blood type B, but overall the general consensus in much of the literature is a preference for type O blood.
In summary, people with blood type O are generally more preferred hosts for mosquitoes.
