Clive James died from complications related to B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2010. In addition to leukemia, he also suffered from emphysema and kidney failure, conditions that compounded his health issues. Despite being told he was near the end as early as 2012, he lived for nearly a decade after his diagnosis, thanks in part to experimental drug treatments. He passed away peacefully at his home in Cambridge on 24 November 2019
