Dr. Vijay Kapoor was written off the TV show "New Amsterdam" due to serious personal matters. In the show, Dr. Kapoor contracted COVID-19 and spent time in the ICU, nearly dying. He recovered from the virus but resigned from the New Amsterdam Medical Center as a result of his health crisis. In the seventh episode of season 3, Dr. Kapoors character succumbed to COVID complications. The actor who played Dr. Kapoor, Anupam Kher, left the show because his wife had a long-term illness.
