If a Tatkal ticket is not confirmed, the following rules apply:
- If a waitlisted Tatkal ticket does not get confirmed or RAC, it automatically gets cancelled and the passenger gets a refund.
- If a party travels in a lower class, the passenger will be given a refund of the difference of fare and also the difference of Tatkal charges if any.
- No refund shall be granted on confirmed Tatkal Tickets.
- In case of Tatkal ticket on waitlist, refund of fare shall be granted in accordance with the rule - in 1.
- Waiting list and RAC tickets of both general and Tatkal quota can always be cancelled. A nominal clerkage fee of Rs.60 per passenger is deducted by railways and the remaining amount is returned back to the customer.
It is important to note that if you have a fully waitlisted e-ticket, you should not board the train under any circumstances as it gets automatically cancelled on chart preparation and the passenger is treated as traveling without a ticket in such cases.
