A revival church is a Christian religious service held to inspire active members of a church body to gain new converts and to call sinners to repent. It is a series of services conducted over several consecutive nights, usually held in the same location, such as the building belonging to the sponsoring congregation or a rented assembly hall. The purpose of a revival church is to revitalize the spiritual life of its members and gain new followers. During a revival church, a group of Christians pray and seek the Holy Spirits presence together while rejoicing over a renewed spiritual exuberance. The goal is to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to transform both believers and nonbelievers alike, and through revival meetings, people sense the power of God and are called to prayer and repentance. Revival refers to a spiritual reawakening from a state of dormancy or stagnation in the life of a believer, and it encompasses the resurfacing of a love for God, an appreciation of God’s holiness, a passion for His Word and His church, a convicting awareness of personal and corporate sin, a spirit of humility, and a desire for repentance and growth in righteousness. Revival invigorates and sometimes deepens a believer’s faith, opening his or her eyes to the truth in a fresh, new way.
