AIPMT stands for All India Pre-Medical Test, which was an annual medical entrance examination in India. The exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and was used to select students for MBBS and BDS programs. The primary aim of this test was to make medical education available on an equitable basis to all regions of the nation and to foster inter-regional exchange. However, AIPMT was replaced by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in 2016, which is an all India pre-medical entrance test for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions in India and also for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad). NEET has completely replaced AIPMT since 2017.
