A high temperature is usually considered to be 38°C or above. This is sometimes called a fever. However, a temperature over 37.5°C can be considered to be a mild fever. Your normal body temperature is approximately 37°C. You can find out if you have a fever by using a thermometer to take your temperature. If you feel hot or shivery, you may have a high temperature even if a thermometer says your temperature is below 38°C. A high-grade fever in adults is 103 degrees F or higher. A fever is usually a symptom of an underlying condition, most often an infection.
