The G20 Summit is an annual meeting of the leaders of the worlds major economies, international organizations, and invited countries. The 2023 G20 New Delhi Summit was the eighteenth meeting of the G20 and the first ever to be held in India and South Asia. The summit took place on September 9-10, 2023, at the International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC), Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi.
The theme of the 2023 G20 Summit was "One Earth, One Family, One Future" (Sanskrit: वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्, lit. The World Is One Family). The summit focused on important issues such as food security, climate and energy, and the value of human, animal, plant, and microorganisms and their interconnectedness on planet Earth and in the wider universe.
Under the Indian Presidency, the G20 leaders agreed to pursue tripling renewable energy capacity globally by 2030 and accepted the need to phase-down unabated coal power. The Indian Presidency also spotlighted Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE), with an emphasis on environmentally sustainable and responsible choices at both the individual lifestyle and the national development level, aiming to achieve a cleaner, greener, and bluer future.
