HNI stands for High-Networth Individuals, which is a category of investors in IPOs in India. HNI IPO applications are part of the Non-Institutional Investors (NII) portion, which includes NRIs, HUFs, Companies, FPIs, and Trusts. As per SEBI regulations, the issuing company should reserve a minimum of 15% of the IPO for the NII category. In the case of IPOs, the HNI/NII category enjoys a 15% reservation of IPO shares. HNI investors typically invest with a minimum amount of Rs 2 lakh. Any bid greater than Rs 2 lakh is automatically considered HNI. The window for HNI category IPO applications closes at 4 PM on the final day of bidding. According to SEBI IPO regulations, applications under the HNI category cannot be deleted or modified to decrease the application size, but they can be modified to increase the size.
