Kalima, also spelled as Kalimah, refers to the six Islamic phrases that are often recited by Muslims as part of their faith. The phrases are taken in part from hadiths and are verses of the Quran. The Six Kalimas are the basic beliefs of Muslims all around the world, and they practice these beliefs and incorporate the basic principles in their lives. The six Kalimas are:

  1. Tayyab (Purity): "There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah".
  2. Shahadat (Testimony): "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah".
  3. Tamjeed (Glory): "Glory be to Allah and all praise be to Allah, and there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. And there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great".
  4. Touheed (Oneness): "There is no God but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He has power over everything".
  5. Astaghfar (Forgiveness): "I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Certainly, You, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. And (there is) no power and no strength except from Allah, the Most High, the Most Great".
  6. Radde Kufr (Rejection of Disbelief): "I reject disbelief and its associates, and I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without any partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger".

It is important to note that Kalma can also refer to other things such as a Finnish goddess, a Finnish rock musician, a psychiatric medication, a relocation camp in Sudan, a village in Estonia, and an airport in North Korea.
